For the first time, empowered celebrities Ruffa Gutierrez, Mariel Padilla and Ciara Sotto will bring a new morning talk show experience to Philippine television.
Beginning Nov. 28, ALLTV will launch its pioneer daytime program entitled Mhies on a Mission (M.O.M.s) on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Ruffa, Mariel, and Ciara as modern moms who will accomplish different missions every episode by featuring informative, fun, and compelling stories that will not just be relatable to fellow “mhies” but to the whole family.
“It feels good to be back on television after six years. We have prepared exciting episodes for our viewers, and we hope they’ll have fun with us every morning. I’m very thrilled about this project and grateful that my new home is ALLTV,” said Mariel, wife of Senator Robin Padilla, during a mediacon held at The Crossing Cafe in Bacoor, Cavite last Nov. 22.
Ruffa said: “Despite coming from different backgrounds and experiences, the three of us anchor on common ground as women and moms. I am excited to share new stories of hope with Mariel and Ciara.”
“This is another milestone in my career since it is my first time to do a talk show and I take this as a challenge to learn new things. It is also overwhelming to work with two amazing mothers and hosts,” Ciara shared.
AMBS President Maribeth Tolentino who graced the event said she’s very excited about the morning show.
“We’re very excited kasi this is the first show produced by ALLTV. Buong buhay ngayon lang ito namin ginawa. You know that the Villar Group of Companies is into real estate. Now we venture into the broadcast or network industry. Inaabangan talaga namin itong M.O.M.s,” said Tolentino.
On the process of choosing the stars for the show, Tolentino said: “Sa simula, maraming mga stars, so sino yung bagay sa amin? Ang naging priority namin is friendship. So yung mga kaibigan ng aming owners, mabait at magagaling. Pagsinabi mo namang magaling kilala naman natin sila Mariel, Ruffa and Ciara. So wala kaming ibang reason para hindi sila ang piliin namin sa first produced namin na show. Sa hosting skills, wala na rin yatang tatalo pa sa kanila. So we want our first show to be successful and eto na, mapapanood na natin ito on Monday, Nov. 28,” Tolentino added.
M.O.M.s’ first episode gives viewers a day in the life peek of these three hosts.
Ruffa, known as the “mhie na may laban,” shares a success story on how she raised her two daughters, Lorin and Venice, and how she finished her college degree this year as a single mother.
Mariel, the “mhie na may diskarte,” reveals her fun life as a hands-on mom to her daughters and determination as an entrepreneur despite being a senator’s wife.
For her part, Ciara, known as the “mhie na may hataw,” shows her strength as a single parent, discipline as a health and fitness advocate, and being a motivator and mentor as a pole-dancing teacher.”
The three stars said they really enjoyed working with one another in their latest project.
“It’s such a breeze to work with them kasi napakagaan nilang kasama. It also helps na we don’t compete with each other and we let each other shine in our own respective ways. It’s never a dull moment with any of them. Talagang kuwentuhan lang kami. Kahit na madugo yung taping namin, we exert a lot energy. It just seems na hindi nakakapagod kasi napakagaan kasama ni Mariel and Ciara. So I couldn’t find better co-hosts than them,” said Ruffa. “I’m so grateful na sila ang kasama ko.”
Ciara said: “Super grateful na makasama ko si Mariel and Ate Ruffa. You know the saying ’empowered women empower women,” that’s how I feel when I am with them. We don’t need to fix each other’s crowns. They are very encouraging and positive about things. We don’t put each other down kasi nga we support each other. So it doesn’t really feel like we’re working. We just talk and laugh making kuwento about stuff. Yung mga guests nahahawa na rin sila sa tawanan namin kasi nga everything is so natural. It doesn’t feel like a talk show. Parang wala kaming script. They just give us topics and then bahala na kami to ask kung ano yung gusto namin itanong.”
Ruffa added: We don’t follow the script this much. It only serves as a guide. Lumalabas kami sa kahon.”
On common things about them, Ruffa said: “Aside sa matagal na kami sa industriya, I think I was the first, siguro our things in common is love for life and our positive energy.”
Ciara added: “All of us are family-oriented. We love our family so much and we spend a lot of time with them. Yun ang common sa amin.”
On their missions in life, Ruffa answered: “I think marami pa akong mission na hindi pa natutupad. I think life is a never-ending process. I love doing things, learning. This year I just graduated from college and am now pursuing a master’s degree. You just never stop learning. Siguro yung mission ko hindi pa natatapos, nag-uumpisa pa lang.”
Ciara said: “I think my mission in life is to raise a strong and God-fearing boy. But he’s only seven and still a work in progress. And of course my other mission is to inspire people, especially women. I hope through this show, I will be able to do that.”
Ruffa added: “I think our other mission is about being mothers. If I die one day, gusto kong ma-remember ng mga tao na isa akong mhie na lumalaban sa buhay, na single mother na gumawa ng paraan para mapa-aral ko ang mga anak ko sa magandang eskwelahan and to give them the best life if I am on my own not relying on anyone else.”
Mariel, on her mission in the show, said: “Iba-iba ang personalities namin. So I think yun ang mai-o-offer ko sa show. Yung energy and happy vibe, I guess. Sa palagay ko yun ang mai-o-offer ko sa kanila na I can promise them. Yun ang aking maiiaambag.”
Prior, Mariel apologized to the media for arriving late in the presscon, saying that she just finished taping at Mella Hotel in Las Pinas City where she acted as a “housekeeper.”
“Naglinis pa po ako ng mga bed at rooms kaya medyo natagalan ako. Pero ang ganda kasi ng story tungkol sa isang mhie na naiba ang plano niya sa buhay. At 17, nabuntis, so pinakita natin kung paano siya lumalaban sa buhay at kung ano’ng diskarte ang ginawa niya para maging maayos ang buhay niya. Pero super linis talaga ako at pagpag ng mga bedsheets. I’m so happy to be here,” Mariel said.
Tolentino said M.O.M.s is just one of the many surprises ALLTV has prepared. “More shows are set to air in the coming months to continuously provide quality entertainment to Filipinos.”
