Tagaytay City, Cavite — PrimeWater and Tagaytay City Water District (TCWD) completes the first septage treatment plant in Tagaytay City, Cavite as part of their commitment to accelerate efforts in ensuring water sanitation and maintaining standards of public health to almost 19,000 concessionaires all over the city.
The completion of this septage treatment facility complies with The Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004 (Republic Act No. 9275) which aims for the safeguarding, conservation, and revitalization of the water sources in the country.
“This project marks a significant milestone in our commitment to proper wastewater management and environmental protection. Together with Tagaytay City Water District as we take this significant step towards promoting sanitation and sustainable development in our city,” TCWD General Manager Carmelita O. Ferma emphasizes.
The new facility, inaugurated at Barangay Guinhawa North can treat 30 cubic meters per day of wastewater collected from the septic tanks of concessionaires before releasing it to waterways.
“Recognizing the importance of reliable and sustainable water sources, we are dedicated to investing in infrastructure that meets the highest standards of water treatment and purification,” PrimeWater Head for Wastewater and Sanitation Department Vergel Angelo Paule adds.
A 2020 World Health Organization report revealed that 45% of households worldwide discharge generated wastewater without safe treatment. This practice is linked to the spreading of diseases such as cholera, typhoid, and polio.
Additionally, PrimeWater-TCWD will also deploy vacuum trucks to secure the continuous sanitation service in 34 Barangays of Tagaytay city-served areas.
“This project signifies our commitment to sustainably managing water sources today and for future generations,” PrimeWater Asst. Vice President for JV Operations Atty Cezar Ong concludes.
